Azathoth is a ‘character’ from the fantasy/horror books of HP Lovecraft (1890 - 1937).Many of Lovecraft’s stories refer to a race of ancient beings who were expelled from Earth and imprisoned ‘outside’, where they remain, scheming how to return. Azathoth is described as “the mad god who sits at the centre of the universe surrounded by his retinue of blind flute players”.
